On 17 February, Hutchison Ports has signed a formal agreement with Ports of Stockholm to operate the container terminal under construction at Stockholm Norvik Port. The new port, which is near Nynäshamn 60km south of the Swedish capital, will have better access, deeper water and greater capacity than the city-centre facilities it will replace.

Stockholm Norvik Port covers 44 hectares and is located 50 km south of Stockholm. The port consists of two parts. One part of the port is the container terminal that replaces the CTF container terminal at Frihamnen Port. The container terminal is operated by Hutchison Ports, one of the world’s largest container terminal operators, with 52 ports in 27 countries. The other part of the port is a RoRo terminal for rolling goods that is operated by Ports of Stockholm. Stockholm Norvik Port

The world’s newest international container terminal is open for business at Hutchison Ports Stockholm following the inaugural call of the first container ship at Sweden’s premier port. Unifeeder vessel SCA Tunadal became the first container ship to arrive at Stockholm Norvik Port on 27 May and unloaded 119 containers while at berth.

Stockholm Norvik Port is a deep-sea freight port being developed by Ports of Stockholm in Frihamnen, Stockholm, Sweden. Featuring both a container terminal and a roll-on / roll-off (RoRo) terminal, the port will handle rolling cargo and containers.

The insurance of goods is not included in storage charges. Requisite insurance must be taken out by the goods owner.

Stockholm Norvik Port, Sweden’s new freight terminal, welcomed its first container ship on 27 May 2020, the Unifeeder SCA Tunadel, as the country looks to increase its regional maritime presence. In a statement, Ports of Stockholm said the arrival is the result of a “long and well planned port construction project”.
